English as a foreign language – why to learn it abroad
Meeting new people
When doing a language course abroad, one of the biggest advantages is the people you will meet. During your classes you’ll get the opportunity to get to know many people from different home countries and different backgrounds. They will speak other languages and will have different goals in life.
Making friends will be easy, as you can connect over the learning of English. Even though you might not speak the same mother language you can communicate through the one you are just learning! In the long run, you’ll also have people to practice your English with. Even after your course finishes, making sure that you won’t forget everything you’ve learned during your classes. Meeting people from different countries is also great because you can make friends all over the world that you can go visit afterwards.
During your stay abroad, you will also get to know locals, native English speakers. As you will soon realise, it can be one of the most important assets when learning a language. They can teach you colloquialisms you wouldn’t find in a schoolbook and in general no better way of understanding the attributes or characteristics of a language. You will develop with them a gut feeling of how to express yourself in a natural way vectone mobile.

Immersing yourself in the English language
The best way to learn English efficiently is full immersion in the language. This is something you can only achieve when you have no chance but to speak English, every day. As a novice language learner, it can be overwhelming sometimes to speak in a foreign language all the time. However you will see that acclimation happens rather quickly and English teaching courses are tailored to fit that experience.
There are, some skills that often fall short in a language course, especially the listening and speaking. When you are in an English speaking country you will practise those outside of class as well. This will give you the opportunity to improve ALL of your lingual abilities.
How quickly your English speaking progresses may also depend on your living situation. If you are living in shared living with friends or acquaintances, you might be tempted to speak your mother language. The best option for full immersion is to stay in a host family. They can help you get more included in the British community. And as they are native speakers, will be able to help you with your pronunciation and speaking.

Living abroad
Moving abroad, albeit for English language school, will give you a very new sense of independence. When you move to a different country, there are many things you need to get used to. You’ll definitely have to get out of your comfort zone! It is different than moving in your home country. Things are probably done quite differently in some respects. That might sound slightly scary at first, but don’t forget that you’ll get to explore a whole new country, its culture, its food… And you will have plenty of time to travel around for a bit, discovering new places and getting to know people.
In a way, living abroad will feel like a different kind of life and the experiences you get to make during your language course are ones you can cherish forever.
Improving your CV
Last but not least, learning a language abroad is going to look good on your CV. Everyone can do an English course, but it doesn’t always give a clear idea of how good the participant’s English actually is. When you study it in the UK, for instance participating in one of our English courses in London, a future employer can assume that you have at least a decent command of the language. Speaking two or more languages is a skill that is demanded now more than ever. With globalisation on the rise and English as the language dominating international business relations, it is a good investment into your future.

Moreover, you can even combine it with doing a certificate like the IELTS, one of the most popular English language assessment tests. IELTS preparation courses are a good way to ready yourself for this exam and you can use the IELTS for things such as applying for university in the UK or just as general proof of how much your English has progressed during your time abroad.
