Reading is an effective process. It is believed that it takes a great idea and an immense amount of hard work for a writer to produce an article , however, most people ignore the hard work of a reader. Whenever you read text, you automatically picture scenes that correlate with the book to understand the point of view of a writer, in which you can agree or disagree on the ideas presented.

Advantages

When you want to learn a language, listening and writing are considered as the most important things that need to be done but on the other hand, the most important element is reading as it helps you familiarise yourself with the language and the grammar.

Acquiring Vocabulary

You will encounter new words whenever you read something that increases your vocabulary. Start with an article or a blog with fewer words, approximately four new words on a page, that you can learn efficiently. You may not even need to use a dictionary whilst reading so preserving your time and improving your motivation. When you acquire a new word, try to use it as much as possible to familiarise yourself with it.

A Form of Writing

When you read a text, it provides you with a good idea of writing as it helps you to learn the structure and expression that you can use while writing.

Structure

When people write, they usually use a general structure to avoid language and grammatical mistakes. On the other hand, it is different in comparison to speaking. But, through reading, you observe and grasp the grammatical language structure naturally.

Speed

Speed never implies when it comes to reading. You can take 30 minutes to read an article or a day. The only thing that matters is the knowledge you attained from it.

Interest

Choosing a particular genre that interests you can cause reading to be motivating and engaging. For example, if you like to read about football, try to go for a footballer’s biography. Through this exercise, you will gain knowledge about the sport and improve at the same time.

Tips for Reading

Read something that you can understand. If you have to stop after every three sentences to look for the meaning, it is going to discourage you. Create a record of new vocabulary and words. But don’t write them while you are reading. Instead, try to figure their meaning by reading the whole sentence.
