Spring has officially sprung, temperatures are rising and we can finally enjoy being outside in beautiful London without shivering. There are many things to do and whether you’re alone or with friends, we’ve got you covered with this list.

Here are 10 things for you to do to make the most of this (hopefully) sunny month.

  1. Waltham Forest: The Mayor’s London Borough of Culture 2019

If you are an art and culture fan, this might be something for you. Waltham Forest has been named Borough of Culture in 2019. There will be various impressive exhibitions throughout the year with the aim to bring Londoners together and putting culture at the heart of local communities. This year will highlight the character, cultures and diversity of the borough. Especially the exposition Ways of Seeing is recommended since it displays 68 artworks, 33 artist and 28 locations.

  1. Free City walk along all sights

With the New London Tour you get a free city walk led by locals along the Big Ben, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. You might even see the changing of the Guards. A city walk is a fun way to explore the city and meet new people (and you even burn calories by doing it!). London is a big city and due to the fact that the tours are given by locals, you won’t only see the big sights, but some hidden local gems as well.

  1. London Wine Week

From wine tasting to master classes and from pop-up bars to just talking about the delicious drinks. If you’re already imagining yourself sitting there, the London Wine Week is your event. This year, the festival passes are free, but it is only accessible for people over 18 years. You can find all the events and bars on https://drinkup.london/wineweek/.
Gather your friends and make it a week to never forget (might be a hard task).

  1. Free museums

London is packed with nice museums and the best news? They are almost all free. Modern art, ancient paintings, impressive sculptures and even an 82-foot blue whale skeleton can be found in the capital’s range of museums.
Some examples of free museums we recommend are the British Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, National History Museum, Museum of London, Science Museum, Design Museum and our favourite: The Chocolate Museum. Enough to entertain yourself for days!

5. All Points East Festival

All Points East is a popular music festival held over 2 weekends once a year. The festival lasts a total of 10 days, 2 weekends filled with music and concerts of big and exciting artists and 4 days of free entry and activities (known as In The Neighbourhood). The diversity in music and activities makes it a festival fit for everyone and looking at the headliners (The Chemical Brothers, Bon Iver, Christine and the Queens, The Strokes, Bring Me The Horizon and Mumford & Sons present Gentleman of the Road) the festival is going to be a big success.

When: May 24 – June 2

  1. Hackney Half Marathon

Even if you are not running a marathon, there are still ways to join in the fun. Cheering in the crowd isn’t only motivational for the runners but is also inspirational for you. Head to the Hackney Half Marathon and cheer on the athletes racing around east London. Don’t miss the live bands and DJs playing at every mile of the marathon.

  1. Rooftop film club

Great films deserve great locations. Rooftop Film Club is an outdoor cinema that gives us the opportunity to watch movies outside on a rooftop. Movies have never looked so great with panoramic views and not to forget stunning sunsets. Every night in May you can watch the most famous movies of all time on the roof of the Bussey Building in Peckham, Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch, and Roof East in Stratford.

  1. Andalucian carnaval

Feria de Londres is a celebration inspired by the Southern Spanish cuisine and entertainment. This free outdoor festival of Spanish includes food, drinks, dance and music.Throughout the weekend Spanish entertainers are going to be dressed in their traditional clothes. Festival visitors are expected to get involved with the celebration this by dancing, singing and just having the time of their lives. This is a perfect place for families and people of all age.

9.Hackney Festival of Fitness

Hackney is kicking off its annual fitness festival on Friday the 17th of May. This three-dayer will bring plenty of fitness experience, entertainment and local food to East London. This festival includes the annual Hackney half-marathon, free classes, a 5K community run and so much more activities. You are not only building up muscles but also raising money for charity. The entry for this festival starts from £49.

When: Friday 17th of May, Saturday 18th of May and Sunday 19th of May.

  1. Greenwich Park

Overlooking the Greenwich University, river Thames and Canary Wharf, Greenwich park has one of London’s most iconic views. Greenwich Park is a mix of 17th-century landscape with a stunning garden and rich history. In summer, local bands perform and children’s playground are being offered. There are also cafés where you can drink or eat something and just enjoy the view on a sunny summer day.
