Do breathing exercises
The basis of breathing is inhalation and exhalation. It can help you relax during tests and revisions.
We consciously breathe in, retain air with full lungs for one minute, then exhale and retain air with empty lungs for one minute. To do 10 times in a row.
Listen to music
According to a study by Dr Emma Gray, clinical psychologist at the British Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Counselling in London, listening to music while working would improve students’ academic performance by nearly 12%. According to the results of the study, listening to music while working, and choosing the right musical style, can have a beneficial effect on academic performance. For example, students who choose classical music while studying mathematics could increase their exam results by 12%.
Eat soya instead of fish
Nutrition is one of your best levers to take care of your body and mind, which are particularly stressed during revisions. Some foods are good allies, such as soybeans, whose benefits have been known since the 2000s. Soya is particularly rich in isoflavones, which directly improves the memory.
Isoflavones would in any case be more effective than phosphorus, whose benefits on memory have never been proven. And fish, which is reputed to be rich in it, actually contains no more than meat, eggs or cheese.
Pedalling while working
Sport has beneficial effects on memory. Guinea pigs who are asked to learn vocabulary learn words better if they ride their exercise bikes at the same time. In practice, it is not always easy to read your sheets while cycling. But you can always cut your revisions into small sports sessions, both to stimulate your neurons and to fight stress.

Chewing gum
Chewing gum five minutes before an exam would improve performance, especially during memory exercises, for the next 15 to 20 minutes. This was demonstrated by an American team from the University of St. Lawrence in a study published in 2011.
Caressing your cat
When you interact with your pet, for example by caressing it, your body starts producing oxytocin, the “happiness hormone”. This was discovered by a doctor and professor of physiology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Oxytocin is best known for its role in triggering childbirth and breastfeeding. What is less well known is that it stimulates and improves social relationships, confidence in others and cardiovascular functions, puts people in a good mood, reduces cortisol (the stress hormone) levels, tension and anxiety.
